Sutton Avenue Accident

At 11:18a Oxford Fire-EMS units were dispatched on a 2nd alarm assignment, along with Oxford Police, to a multiple vehicle accident on Sutton Avenue in the area of Dunkin Donuts 17 Sutton Avenue. Oxford Rescue 1, Ambulance 1, Ambulance 2, Car 5 and Car 6 responded to the scene. Oxford Car 6, Captain Belanger, assumed command. Oxford Fire-EMS units arrived to find 4 total vehicles and two pedestrians involved. The accident scene extended from the Dunkin Donuts to the area of McDonalds at 26A Sutton Ave. One pedestrian was deceased on the scene. The second pedestrian was transported by Oxford Ambulance 2 in critical condition to UMASS Medical Center, Worcester. Webster Fire-Rescue assisted on scene with extrication of one vehicle occupant. A total of 9 patients were transported to local hospitals by Oxford Fire-EMS, Webster EMS, Dudley Fire-Rescue, Charlton Fire-Rescue and Leicester EMS. Sutton Fire Department provided coverage at Oxford Fire-EMS Headquarters. The condition of the patients transported is unknown at this time. The accident is under investigation by Oxford Police Department and an accident reconstruction team. Sutton Avenue and the 395 off ramp remain closed at this time.
