Ambulance Accident January 6, 2017

On January 6, 2017 at approximately 6:45pm Oxford Fire-EMS Ambulance #2 was dispatched to a single car accident on 395 southbound in the are of Exit 5. The ambulance was slowing down as it arrived in the area of the accident when it was struck from the rear driver's side of the ambulance. Both vehicles sustained significant damage. The crew was unharmed. The ambulance crew was able to provide medical attention to the driver of the vehicle in the initial accident as well as evaluate the driver of the vehicle that struck the ambulance who refused medical attention. Oxford Fire-EMS Ambulance #1 was dispatched to the scene to transport the injured party of the original accident to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries. Massachusetts State Police are handling the investigation. The ambulance has been removed from service.
